📚✨ Storytime just got a whole lot cuter! Mrs. Polizotto's kindergarten class is reading to their stuffed animals, and it’s the sweetest sight! 🧸❤️ The kids chose books about their furry friends and read to them, making reading a shared adventure.

The third graders are having a blast swimming at the YMCA on Thursdays, during the Learn to Swim program. What a great opportunity for our students at PES!

Art and Library news from Mrs. Polizzoto.

Students in grades second through fifth had the opportunity to work with Sayon Camara, a drummer and singer who taught students about traditional West African drumming and storytelling. Thank you to generous community donations and our music teacher, Celina Reed, for bringing this unique opportunity to PES.

Last week, fifth graders finished their study of the American Revolution by learning about spies. Some techniques used by Washington's Culper spy ring were: invisible ink, coded messages, and hanging items on a clothesline to signal when and where a meeting was. Thank you for sharing, Mrs.Snell.

Students loved having community Readers in their classrooms today. Thank you to Mr.Nick, Dr.Manuel, Mrs.Brockett, Officer Marco, and Ms. Karasopoulos.

Officer SALTY, or Emily from Kelt, came to visit fourth grade this week for the first lesson in what will be several weeks of hands on marine biology based learning. This week students mapped out areas of water along our coast line and learned about the differences between species of mollusks. Next week, students will be dissecting clams. What a great experience for our students!

We have some exciting new friends in our saltwater tank at school. Three new lump fish have joined us and a red sea anemone. The lump fish uses its stumpy fins to scoot through the sea and cling to rocks with fins that act like suction cups. The sea anemone has six crowns with almost 200 tentacles. When taken out of the water it retracts its tentacles and closes its body.

📚✨ Get ready to celebrate reading! Next week, join us for Read Across America Spirit Week! 🎉 Teachers will share special books connected to states. Don't forget to check out our fun reading log for students coming home this week! Let's make reading a community adventure!

Mrs. Williams shared photos of second graders working with math arrays; the beginning stages of multiplication!

We had an absolute blast at our Winter Carnival! 🎊 We sledded, danced, bowled, made s'mores, and threw snowballs! ❄️❤️ What a fantastic way to celebrate our amazing students!

🌟 Tomorrow, we are thrilled to celebrate our students' positive behavior with a school-wide Winter Carnival! 🎉 This event will feature six engaging stations, promoting teamwork and outdoor play. It’s a wonderful opportunity to foster community spirit and recognize the hard work of our students. ⛄️❤️

We are halfway through Kindness Week at school! 🎉 Students are working hard to fill their buckets with kindness! Each day, teachers are pulling two kind acts for students to carry out, earning stickers along the way. 🌈
