🌊 The emerging kelp industry in Maine presents exciting opportunities for sustainability and innovation. Our 5th graders are actively engaging with this marine industry, learning from local kelp farmers during a recent virtual session and taste testing some ways to enjoy kelp. Join us in celebrating their learning journey, where attendees may have the chance to sample various kelp dishes.

This week, our Kindergarten students engaged in a hands-on learning experience focused on hermit crabs, a sea creature native to Phippsburg. 🦀 They are developing essential skills in care and responsibility as they prepare to welcome two new hermit crabs into their classroom "crabitat." Our upcoming celebration of learning will highlight their discoveries and insights. Educating young minds about marine life fosters curiosity and environmental stewardship.

What an exciting Tuesday at PES! 🌊 Chewonki educators dazzled our students with engaging presentations on Tide Pools, Animal Adaptations, and Fins and Flippers. From live sea creatures to adorable hedgehogs and intriguing whale bone puzzles, we had a blast learning together! 🐾✨

🌊🐟✨ Our 3rd graders are taking action! They're crafting a unique play about how climate change is affecting Maine's lobsters and the hardworking lobstermen who depend on them. 🎭💔 Come see their live performance at our celebration of learning.

Please join us on June 13th for our Celebration of Learning!

Today, 4th grade students at PES had the opportunity to engage in a valuable learning experience on Hermit Island. Guided by local clam digger David Grey and KELT scientist Emily, they participated in reseeding mudflats, gaining firsthand insights into the sustainability of our marine industries. Such initiatives are vital for protecting local species and supporting the livelihoods of our diggers.

🌊🐚 Mrs. Williams's second graders are on an incredible journey exploring the sustainability of marine industries in Phippsburg, Maine! They’re diving deep into the world of oysters and learning about the logistics of oyster farming. Students are learning how they can help create a sustainable and profitable industry for generations to come.

Yesterday afternoon, we gathered at Phippsburg School to launch our spring expeditionary learning project! 🌊 Students will dive into what it means to be environmental stewards, focusing on protecting our peninsula's species and creating sustainability in marine industries. During our kick off event, we cycled through five learning stations, recording our observations and wonders. Mark your calendars for our celebration of learning on June 13th at 2:00 PM! 🎉

🌌✨ What an amazing experience for our PES students! Yesterday, they had the chance to learn from aerospace educators Dianea Carroll Phillips, Brian Eweson, and Sharon Eggleston during Maine's Space Day. Students in grades 3-5 interacted with original NASA items, including a jumpsuit and rocket replicas, and students in grades K-2 heard a story and made their own rocket ships. 🚀💫

Please join us on May 22nd at 5:30, for our Kindergarten information night.

Mrs. Tardif's Kindergarten class was so happy to see the sun today!

Mrs. Tardif's Kindergarten class had fun with Math and Science. They were able to play several math games this week in Kindergarten. We enjoyed "Roll it," "The Disappearing Train Game," and "The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game."
They also used the Promethean board to create different insects - with head, thorax, wings and antennas. They love using this technology in our room - sometimes even competing in teams!

Pre-K to 5th grade students participated in the reading incentive program Bikes for Books, sponsored by Solar Star Lodge #14 AF&AM of Bath. Here are a few very happy winners.

🎨✨ Together we Learn was a HUGE success! Thank you to all the families who brought energy and creativity to our art, music, and literary activities! 💖 Shoutout to our fantastic PTA and volunteers for keeping the snack station running!

Last week, the fifth grade students visited the vernal pools behind our school, guided by the dedicated members of the Phippsburg Conservation Committee. 🌊🐸 A huge thank you to our community volunteers: Ellen Winchester, Michelle and Mark Holdridge, and Terry Whetstone! 🙌 The students collected salamander and frog eggs to observe in our classroom aquarium. What a fantastic way to learn about local ecosystems!

Phippsburg students in fourth grade explored Jewell Cemetery last week with Mr. Vande and his father, Mr. Hunter! These dedicated volunteers are keeping our history alive. Learning about our ancestors is a beautiful way to connect with our community roots.
