student No Tan art in black and hot pink

The student I am choosing to recognize this week has impressed me many times. This student is kind, thoughtful, and not afraid to try their best to answer a question when they might not know the exact answer. Not only do they have a creative and imaginative mind, they demonstrate amazing attention to detail! Their No Tan Collage shows beautiful shapes cut and folded out to expand their square. This idea of compounding the symmetry though the repetition of these imaginative shapes on opposite sides of the square is interesting to me, but what I really like is how they don't line up exactly across from each other, which creates a very subtle spiraling effect, giving the piece movement while still maintaining the stillness of symmetry. Congratulations, Olivia Schurz, Student Artist of the Week.
